Hopfer, Pvt. David A. (Military Note - 1963)

Marine Pvt. David A. Hopfer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Hopfer of Neillsville, has completed four weeks of individual combat training with the Second Infantry training regiment at Camp Pendleton, Calif. The training provides newly-enlisted marines with a background of experience in the field under combat conditions.  Live-firing exercises are conducted, in addition to field trips and classroom lectures. Under carefully selected instructors, the young marines learn to take their places in small fighting units, such as the four-man fire team and the 14-man squad.
