Converse, Edward (1880 - 15 March 1911)

Edward Converse, the second son of Mrs. Amelia Converse, a widow of the Town of Fremont, died at Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, a week ago Wednesday, March 15, 1911, after a four week siege of typhoid fever in a hospital of that place. In response to a telegram received here next day his brother Hugh took the first train after that, the 4 o’clock Friday morning, for that place and returned here with the body Thursday morning.  The funeral was held from the Adventist Church the same afternoon, Rev. Mallory officiating, with interment in the Windfall Cemetery beside the body of his father and that of an infant brother.

Edward was an unmarried man who became 30 years of age last November and who at the death of his father 18 years ago went to live with his uncle H. E. Williams and continued there for six years. When 18 years old he went to Watertown, S. D., and after a year’s residence there engaged at farm labor he returned here and spent a year with his mother. Then going to Knox, N.D., he went to work for one A. S. Hartman and has continued in his employ ever since, going from Knox to Lethbridge only last January.  His old employer and friend were with him in Canada and it was he who sent the letters and telegram advising the widowed mother of her son’s death.

The deceased leaves beside his mother one brother, Hugh, and three sisters, Grace, Mrs. Edward Coil, Myrtle, Mrs. Leo Chapel and Miss Florence at home.

The pallbearers were: Ed Riedel, Frank Downer, Arthur Berg, Asa Mahn, Frank Tompkins and Roy Wright.
