McCarty, Jessie (5 October 1875 - 11 April 1963)

 

Mrs. Almon H. McCarty, a former resident of the Longwood community, died at Saginaw Osteopathic Hospital, Saginaw, Mich., April 11, after a short illness.

 

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Greenwood Methodist Church, with burial in the Greenwood Cemetery.

 

Jessie Barr, the daughter of Ira and Sharlotte (Fusee) Barr, was born at Otter Lake, Mich., October 5, 1875. She came to Greenwood with her parents when she was a small child, and later moved to Longwood, where her father had the blacksmith’s shop.

 

She was married to Almon H., McCarty in 1899, and they resided on a farm in Longwood until his death, May 7, 1937.  She moved to Saginaw, Mich., in 1940, and made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Howard Farwell.

 

She is survived by a son, Allan, of Fond du Lac; and two daughters, Mrs. Howard (Violet) Farwell, and Elizabeth McCarty of Saginaw, Mich.; a grandson, and two granddaughters, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and two sons, Justin and Vernon, and a daughter, Mrs. Laurence (Charlotte) Thomley.
