Hagen, Ernest Delbert (29 December 1904 - 11 April 1963)
Funeral services for Ernest Hagen, 58, Neillsville, who died here, last Thursday, were held Saturday afternoon from the Bergemann Funeral Home. The Rev. W. C. Koehler of the United Church of Christ officiated, and burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
Ernest Delbert Hagen was born December 29, 1904, in Athens, the son of Mrs. Ida (Rodman) Hagen and the late Gustave Hagen. The Hagen family moved to the Town of York when Ernest was four years old. He attended the town’s rural schools.
As a young man he began to work for the late Joe McMann on a farm and was employed there until a year ago in January. Due to failing health he retired. He had been a hospital patient for three weeks prior to his death.
Since his retirement from farming, he had made his home with his mother in Neillsville. He never married.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Ida Hagen of Neillsville; a sister, Mrs. Arnold (Irene) Johlke of Milwaukee; a brother, Vernon (Butch) Hagen of Milwaukee.
Pallbearers were: Frank Dobes, John Gloff, Merwyn Schutz, Oscar Stelter, Frank Walter and Franklin Zickert. "Sweet Bye and Bye" and "Lord I am Coming Home," were sung by Wilfred B. Galstad, accompanied by Kathleen Galstad.
Out-of-town people attending the service were: Mr. and Mrs. Hallie Schultz, Oshkosh; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Harlin, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Walter and Steve Lepori, Granton.
