Schwartz, John #2 (11 APR 1896 - 18 AUG 1958)

The body of John Schwartz, 62, was found in a blackberry patch, 7 miles east and 3 ¼ miles south of Thorp in the town of Longwood early Tuesday morning.  Schwartz, missing since Monday, had been the object of an all-night search.

Death from natural causes had come shortly after Schwartz started picking berries, authorities believe.

His body was found near his car by volunteer searchers who had formed a chain.

Sgt. Wally Rudd of the Eau Claire Police Department and his bloodhound had been called at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Funeral services for John Schwartz, born April 11, 1896, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from the Thorp Funeral Home.  Military rites will be held by the Thorp American Legion Post.  Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery.

He will lie in state from Thursday noon at the funeral home until when services are held.

Mr. Schwartz is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Frank (Elsie) Broeren of Thorp and Mabel Sievert of the state of Washington.
