Machtan, Ruth J.C. Noeldner (2 FEB 1919 - 22 OCT 2011)
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28,
2011, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal. The Rev. Daniel
Zimmerman and the Rev. Richard Noeldner (son) will officiate and
burial will follow in the Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers will be
her grandsons: Steve Voss, Mike Voss, Craig Voss, John Palmer, Noel
Palmer, Brian Noeldner, Jason Noeldner and Daniel Prust.
Visitation will be held at Cuddie
Funeral Home in Loyal on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011, from 4 p.m. to 8
p.m., and at church on Friday, from 12:30 p.m. until time of
service.
Ruth Johanna Christina Lindner was
born on Feb. 2, 1919, in Loyal, the daughter of John and Clara
(Schaeffner) Lindner. She grew up on the family farm and received
her education in the Loyal area, graduating from Loyal High School
in 1936. Ruth graduated in 1938 from Beauty Culture School in
Minneapolis. Upon completing her schooling, she moved back to Loyal
and worked at Emma's Beauty Shop from 1939 to 1942.
She was united in marriage to Erwin
C. Noeldner on Nov. 21, 1939, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal.
They bought a farm just south of Loyal and farmed until 1976, at
which time they sold the farm to their son, Jerry, and moved to
Loyal. They operated Noeldner Implement in Loyal from 1952 to 1970.
After moving to Loyal in 1976, Ruth worked at the Hardware Hank
store for eight years. Her husband, Erwin, died on Jan. 29,
1991.
She moved to Spencer in 1997 and met
LaVerne Machtan while square dancing. Ruth was united in marriage
Oct. 2, 1999, to LaVerne at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Loyal. They
resided in Spencer until the time of her death.
Ruth was a very active member of
Trinity Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School for many
years, sang in the church choir, and served as financial secretary
for 20 years. She also was a hospice volunteer for several
years.
She had many interests, but
especially loved spending time with her family, quilting, reading,
canning, berry picking, sewing, square dancing, baking pies and her
famous coffee cake, crafts, playing cards and games.
Ruth will be dearly missed by her
husband, LaVerne, of Spencer; her children, Jean (Ron) Abel of
Junction City, Marilyn Palmer of Steamboat Springs, Colo., Jerry
(Sandra) Noeldner of Loyal, Rev. Richard (Dee) Noeldner of
Cumberland, Cynthia (Terry) Prust of Spencer; step-children,
Darlene Machtan (Homer VanMeter) of Rhinelander, Kenneth Machtan of
Madison, Dale (Rosie) Machtan of Marshfield; one
step-daughter-in-law, Diane Machtan of Marshfield; 13
grandchildren: Sandra (Mark) Reinhardt of Cedarburg, Steve (Tammy)
Voss of Marshfield, Mike (Kelly) Voss of Marshfield, John Palmer of
Burnsville, Minn., Michelle (Steve) Quirk of Lakeville, Minn., Noel
(Ashley) Palmer of Bozeman, Mont., Jason (Alexi) Noeldner of Maple
Grove, Minn., Brian (Jacqueline) Noeldner of Lakewood, Colo., Craig
(Mary) Voss of Combined Locks, Jenny (Matt) Hudson of San Ramon,
Calif., Christina (Mike) Mroz of Kellogg, Minn., Kristan Noeldner
of Loyal, Daniel Prust of Eau Claire; 26 great-grandchildren; one
niece, Carol (Garth) LaRene; one nephew, James (Janice) Helms; many
other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her
parents; her husband, Erwin; one daughter, Susanne K. Noeldner, on
May 2, 2006; a son-in-law, John Palmer, on Dec. 11, 2006; one
step-son, Glen Machtan; one sister, Dorothy Helms; and one brother,
Wilbur Lindner.
