Gerzemehle, Ernest Carl (11 October 1862 - 17 April 1911)
After years of patient suffering with an incurable disease Ernest Gerzemehle took to his bed a few weeks since when it was quite apparent to all, he was never to leave it again alive. Death came to his relief at four o’clock Monday afternoon, April 17th, 1911, when this honest, upright, highly respected neighbor and friend, a devoted husband and father left this "vale of tears" for that glorious home beyond.
The deceased was born in Pommern, Germany, Oct. 11th, 1862, coming to this country with his parents when but three years old. On February 11th, 1890 he was married to Miss Emelia Marg of Fremont. She with their 3 children, Laura, Louis and Amanda, his aged father Christian Gerzemehle, one step-sister, Mrs. Adolph Schlinsog and four step-brothers; August, Charles, William and Gottlieb Tischer survive him.
The funeral was held from the Grant Lutheran Church yesterday, Thursday, Rev. Rathke officiating and the remains laid to rest in the Town cemetery beside those of his mother and a daughter, gone before. The pallbearers were Paul Garbush, John Dietrich, Wm Foemmel, C. A. Guth, F. Gerber and Adolph Beil.
