Elmer, George Thomas (7 March 1897 - 15 April 1963)
Word has been received that funeral services were conducted April 19 for George Thomas Elmer, who died April 15 at the Veterans Hospital at Palo Alto, Calif. The Rev. Wesley Pierson of the Congregational Church officiated at services from the Roller-Hapgood Funeral Home. Burial was made in the Golden Gate National Cemetery at San Bruno, Calif. Military rites were conducted at the graveside. Mr. Elmer served in World War I.
He was born March 7, 1897 at Columbus and went to Greenwood with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Elmer in 1902. He received his education in rural schools. As a young man he worked as a mechanic.
On August 18, 1924, he was married to Mary Ormond of Neillsville. The family lived in various places before coming to Sunnyvale, Calif., in 1949, from Neillsville.
He is survived by his wife, Mary and two children, Richard and Mrs. Michael (Audrey) O’Leary; and four granddaughters, all of Sunnyvale. Four brothers, Ervin of Apache Junction, Ariz., Walter of Milwaukee, Ernest of Greenwood and Fred of Phoenix, Ariz.; five sisters, Mrs. Edwin Finkle of Fort Worth, Tex., Mrs. A. Verlindi of Santa Cruz, Calif., Mrs. Emory Gesme of Madison, Mrs. Charles Mueller of Mukwonago, and Mrs. Albert Hall of Greendale, also survive. His parents and one brother preceded him in death.
