Tomkowiak, Martin (20 OCT 1878 - 26 DEC 1958)
Martin Tomkowiak, aged 80 years, passed away on Dec. 25, 1958 at Victory Memorial Hospital at Stanley where he had been a patient for a few days.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Francis Piekarski at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church on Monday, Dec. 29th at 10:00 a.m. with interment in St. Hedwig’s Parish Cemetery.
Mr. Tomkowiak was born in Poland on Oct. 20, 1878. On July 8, 1900 he was united in marriage to Magdaline Franczkowiak. Arriving in America in May 1903 they made their home at Stanley, Wis., for one year before moving to the farm they resided on southeast of Thorp in Reseburg (Clark Co., Wis.) for about 40 years. Since retirement in 1942, he made his home in Thorp City.
Surviving him are his wife, Magdaline Tomkowiak, four sons, John of Milwaukee, Wis., Frank and Peter of Thorp, Paul of Owen, and one daughter, Mrs. John (Celia) Wargolet of Milwaukee, also twenty-one grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were his grandsons: Florian Tomkowiak, Milwaukee, Ervin Tomkowiak, Loyal, Edward Tomkowiak, Thorp, Lawrence Suda, Thorp, Milton Ryba, Stanley, and Marvin Michelski of Marshfield.
