Bartholomew, Herman #3 (10 MAR 1878 - 17 DEC 1958)
Herman Bartholomew, 80, resident of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) for the past 57 years, died Dec. 17, 1958 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. Funeral services were held Dec. 20 at the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home in Owen, with the Rev. Ralph Claybaugh officiating. Burial was in the Withee Riverside Cemetery.
Mr. Bartholomew served as village constable from 1912 to 1945. He also served as water superintendent, street commissioner, village marshal and deputy sheriff. After his retirement in 1945 from his civic duties, he worked for two years for the Sharp Electric Co. of Wausau, but maintained his residence in Withee.
He was born in Waukesha and attended school in Milwaukee. He later moved to Westfield until moving to Withee in 1901. He was married June 1, 1912 to May F. Barber in Withee. From 1901 to 1912 he engaged in the mason contracting business with his father and two brothers.
Survivors include his wife, a daughter, Flora B. Bartholomew, Wausau; a brother, Luis Bartholomew, Withee; a sister, Mrs. William Carmichael, Waukesha; and several nieces and nephews.
