Anderson, Henry O. (? - 1886)
Note: Reprinted from the original report, published in the Colby Phonograph, October 21, 1886
Henry O. Anderson, of Abbotsford, was run over and killed by the mail train Thursday evening, about three-fourths of a mile west of that place.
The deceased was walking on the track when he was met by the train, the engineer of which attempted to stop, but was so close when the man was first observed that the train ran some car lengths past the body before the train was stopped.
It is stated that the man was under the influence of liquor.
Justice Monson empanelled a jury on Friday morning and held an inquest, when a verdict was rendered in accordance with the above.
The deceased leaves a wife and two children to mourn this deplorable accident.
The train men who were subpoenaed as witnesses gave orders that their fees should be collected and paid over to the widow of the deceased.
Note: Birth information closely matches the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery listing of Henry Anderson, born 1862, died 1887, married to Helen (Thompson).
