Grum, Josephine (13 January 1910 - 5 June 1963)

Mrs. Tony Grum, 53, died suddenly at her home in Greenwood early Wednesday morning, after being in poor health, for six years.

Mrs. Grum, the former Josephine Slovnik, was born January 13, 1910, in Waukegan, Ill.  In 1918 she moved with her parents to Willard and returned to Waukegan in 1922.

She was married October 30, 1928, to Tony Grum in Waukegan, Ill., and lived there until 1942, when they came to Longwood.  In 1945 they moved to Greenwood and she had resided here since.

Surviving her are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Harvey (Phyllis) Goeke of Greenwood and Mrs. John R. (Lillian) Smith of Japan; and a son, Richard, of Fond du Lac; also two grandchildren; her mother, Mrs. Josephine Slovnik of Waukegan, Ill.; a brother John Slovnik; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Ryan and Mrs. Toivo (Stephie) Ryoti all of Waukegan, Ill.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon from the Hill Funeral home. The Rev. Orval Egbert, pastor of the United Church, officiated.  Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Albert Neuenfeldt, Louis Kebl, Merril Hare, Henry Lamovec, Arthur Petke, and Frank Koschak.   Mrs. Don Warner was the organist.

Relatives from away who attended were: Richard Grum of Fond du Lac; Mrs. John Slovnik, Sr., Mrs. Edward Ryan, Mr. and Mrs. Toivo Ryoti, John Slovnik, Jr., John Grum, William Grum, and John Skuble, all of Waukegan, Ill.; Mrs. Shirley Grimes, Mrs. James Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Petke of Owen and Miss Jane Grimes of Minneapolis; and many friends from Owen, Withee, Willard and the Greenwood area.
