Ogurek, Laverne (27 DEC 1958)
Miss Laverne Ogurek, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Al Ogurek of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of Richard Swanek, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Swanek of Chicago, in a double ring ceremony performed by Father Connie Chilicki at St. Hedwig’s Chapel in the city at 9:00 o’clock Saturday morning, Dec. 27th, 1958. The Chapel maintained a Christmas setting for the occasion.
They were attended by Mr. and Mrs. Henry Nowobielski, brother-in-law and sister of the bride.
The bride was attired in a gown of white taffeta, street length, with lace overskirt and scoop neckline of nylon jersey which fell into a dress length streamer in the back. She wore a sequin crown with shoulder length veil and three-quarter length gloves of lace to match her dress. She wore a poinsettia corsage and carried a rosary.
Organ music was furnished during the service by Al Ciolkosz.
The groom is formerly of Lublin, Wis., and both he and the bride attended Thorp High School. The bride was employed as a Bell Telephone operator.
A wedding breakfast followed the ceremony at the home of the bride’s parents and dinner and supper were served to about twenty-five guests. In the evening a dance was held at Marion’s Hall for all friends and relatives and a delicious buffet lunch was served at the hall by relatives of the groom.
The wedding couple left on their honeymoon for Long Beach, Calif., where they will reside at 140 Elm Ave., Apt. J. The groom is serving with the U.S. Navy.
