Fisher, Charles F. (1 AUG 1883 - 20 JAN 1959)
Charles Francis Fisher was born in Ironton Township to Emil C. and Christena (Messner) Fisher on Aug. 1, 1883, was baptized and confirmed in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. He died in Richland Center Hospital Jan. 20, 1959, after a long illness.
He was married on May 11th (no year listed) to Cora M. Leicher at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church at Loganville. They resided in Loganville for one year, then moved to Reedsburg, where he learned the plumbing trade from his brother Louis at the August Seifert Hardware Store. After 3 years they moved to Cazenovia where, with his brothers Fred and William, bout the Fisher Brothers Hardware Store from Lee and George Fisher.
19 years later they moved to Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), where he worked in the Farmers Hardware for Joe Pawlak for 8 years, then went into his own plumbing business, now known as Fisher Plumbing, being operated by a son. Later, they purchased the Hansman, Johnson Hardware Store and bought the stock of the Gamble Store, later selling it to their son, Clarence, no known as the Ace Hardware.
They built 3 cottages at Rock Dam Resort, where they spent 4 summers, then retired and moved back to Loganville in 1947, where they remained until his death. He was preceded in death by his parents, 7 brothers and 2 sisters.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, 3 sons, Clarence and Raleigh of Thorp, and Kendall of Reedsburg, one daughter (Margaret) Mrs. Edwin Ward Sr. of Reedsburg, 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, four sisters-in-law and many good neighbors and friends. He was a kind and loving father and a good friend to all who knew him. The funeral was held at St. Peter Lutheran Church Friday, Jan. 23, with burial in Westfield Cemetery.
