Bogumill, John S. #2 (26 JAN 1895 - 30 JAN 1959)
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Herbert Hoffmann at St. Bernard’s Church here at 9:30 Tuesday morning for John S. Bogumill, 64, who passed away at the Stanley Victory Hospital on Jan. 30, 1959, after ten day illness brought on by an attack of pneumonia.
Mr. Bogumill, former Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) merchant, who was part owner in the Thorp Farmers Store and Thorp Flour and Feed Co., was active in civic affairs for many years. Following the sale of his store interests he was employed as salesman for Kickusch Grocery Co. for several years and for the past two years was in the office of Thorp Finance Corp. He was well known here as an energetic civil leader and promoter of activities in the interests of the community, and member of the Lions Club, Moose Lodge No. 681, Catholic Order of Foresters, Thorp Knights of Columbus, Holy Name Society, Polish National Alliance, President of the Thorp Rod and gun Club and member of the Stanley Rod and Gun Club.
The deceased was born in the township of Withee on Jan. 26, 1895. He attended the local schools and had been a lifelong resident of this community. He was united in marriage to Jeanette Huls at St. Bernard’s Church here on April 13, 1915.
He leaves to mourn, his wife, two sons, Claybourne of Thorp and James of Milwaukee; two daughters, Patricia, Mrs. Robert Turenne of Thorp and Ann, Mrs. Harvey Brandsness of Paramus, N.J.; three brothers, Thomas of Chicago, Edward of Thorp and Frank of Holcombe; six sisters, Gertrude, Mrs. Chas. Herman, Sophie, Mrs. John Huls, Elizabeth, Mrs. Thomas Polnaszek and Katherine, Mrs. Robert Blazel, all of Thorp, Lucy, Mrs. Stanley Manicki of Hartland, Wis., and Pauline, Mrs. Velmon Stoker of Madison.
He was laid to rest in St. Bernard’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were Robert Herman, Edward Polnaszek, William Bogumill, Robert Huls, Donald Van Loo and Byron Bogumill.
