Hantke, Matilda M. (Marriage - 7 May 1911)

The Sam Cook home was the scene of a very pretty wedding when at two o’clock last Sunday afternoon, May 7^th, 1911; Rev. Reiff pronounced the sacred ceremony which united the lives of Miss Matilda M. Hantke and Mr. Emil W. Krueger, a very quiet wedding witnessed only by the immediate relatives of the contracting parties.  Miss Minnie, one of this town’s own prettiest daughters, presented a charming picture in her wedding dress of daintiest embroidered white mull and carrying a bride’s bouquet of pink roses.  She was attended by her close friend, Miss Lydia Worchel who too, was in white. The groom in the regulation black was attended by Master Louis Kurth, one of the bride’s nephews.

The parlor where the ceremony was performed was decorated with ferns and cut flowers, while the dining room presented a perfect bower of beauty with its handsome table service set off by a profusion of sweet peas and carnations.  The wedding cake proper was a tooth-some confection of fruits and other good things put together by a Milwaukee artist. All other delicacies of the elaborate luncheon which, after the congratulations, followed the ceremony were produced at the hands of the bride’s sisters the Mesdames Clemence Kuechenmeister, Robert Kurth and Sam Cook, each of whom is noted for her power and success in this branch of domestic science.

The groom is a mechanical engineer with headquarters in Milwaukee where at 1142 25^th Street he has established and furnished a pretty home for his sweet girl bride and where after tomorrow they expect to be at home to their many friends.  Though we have seen little of the groom and never met him until this time, he impresses us as a man of very evident uprightness and ability, well qualified to care for the bride he has so wisely selected and won.  The happy pair left for Wrightstown on Wednesday for a short visit to relatives of Mr. Krueger’s. From there they go direct to their own new home in Milwaukee.
