Alfuth, Edna (27 MAY 1889 - 20 MAR 1959)
Funeral services were held Monday, March 23 at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Stevens Point, for Mrs. John Alfuth, 368 Patch St. Burial was made in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
Mrs. Alfuth died at St. Michael’s Hospital at 3:15 p.m. Friday, March 20, 1959. She was taken to the hospital by ambulance early Friday morning. Prior to that time, she was in good health.
Mrs. Alfuth was born Edna Slupski in Poland on May 27, 1889, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Slupski. She came to the United States with her parents when she was five years old. The family lived at Chicago for a time, then they moved to Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.).
On Oct. 1911, she was married at Thorp to John Alfuth at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church. They lived at Thorp until 1914, when they went to Stevens Point. They lived at the present address for more than 30 years. Mr. Alfuth, now retired, was a section foreman for the Soo Line Railroad.
Surviving are her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Ray (Marion) Hardina, St. Paul, Minn., and Misses Ann and Rose, at home; three sons, Peter and Thomas, North Fond du Lac, and Joseph, 504 N. Reserve St.; 16 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; one brother, Leon Slupski, Mount Prospect, Ill., and four sisters, Mrs. Frank Hoffman, Thorp, and Mrs. Philip Zaikowski, Mrs. Michael Bronars and Mrs. Hattie Dymek, all of Chicago.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three infant sons.
