Lang, Joseph Sr. #1 (27 DEC 1889 - 8 APR 1959)
Joseph Lang Sr., 69, passed away April 8, 1959 at his home in the Town of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), after a short illness.
Mr. Lang, who operated a farm in the Town of Withee for many years, was born in Poland on Dec. 27, 1889. He came to America at the age of one year with his parents, who settled in the state of New York and afterward moved to Thorp in 1899, and had spent the past sixty years in this community.
He was united in marriage to Bernice Konieczny at St. Hedwig’s Church here on Sept. 20, 1915.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Joseph Jr. of Chicago; three daughters, Mrs. Henry (Sophie) Gutchow of Chicago, Mrs. Wm. (Theresa) Beyer of Angle, Mich., Mrs. Alfred (Eleanore) Struck of Chicago, and thirteen grandchildren. One son, George, preceded him in death in July 1930. Also surviving are one brother, Alex Lang of Thorp, and two sisters, Mrs. Mike Stevens of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Louis Olinski of Thorp.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Francis Piekarski at St. Hedwig’s Chapel in the city at 10:00 o’clock Saturday morning, April 11th, with interment following in the new parish cemetery. Pallbearers were Peter Burzynski, Leon Marek, Thomas Osowski, Victor Wojt, Frank Kroll and Carl Kiraly.
Relatives from out of town who were her to attend the funeral of Jos. Lang, April 11th were: Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gutchow and family, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Struck and family, Mrs. and Mrs. Jos. Lang Jr. and family, all of Chicago, Wm. Beyer, Angle, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. Mike Stevens, Mrs. Roy Allen, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Minard and family, Mr. and Mrs. Cal Thorpe, Mrs. Lew Smith and Richard Langiewicz, all of Minneapolis, Mrs. Stuk and daughters, Mrs. Ed Frailing, Mrs. Agnes Dachoff, Mrs. Anna Czapega and Mrs. John Racine, all of Iron River, Mich.
