Wnek, Angeline (29 JUN 1865 - 4 MAY 1959)

 

Mrs. John Wnek Sr., 94, whose husband passed away at the age of 95 on April 29 (just five days before) died May 4, 1959 at 5:00 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Andrew Nowobielski in the city of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) of old age infirmities.  She had been residing there for the past seven years.  The previous fifty-eight years she spent with her husband and family on a farm in the Town of Withee.

 

The deceased was born in Poland on June 29, 1865.  She came to America in 1889 and in 1891 was united in marriage to John Wnek at Kingston, N.Y.

 

The farm home where she spent many happy years is now operated by her son, John Jr.

 

She is survived by three sons, John Jr., Peter and Frank, all of Thorp; four daughters, Catherine, Mrs. Andrew Nowobielski and Anna, Mrs. Michael Strzok, of Thorp, and Helen, Mrs. John Cekus and Cecilia, Mrs. John Keller of Chicago, 26 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Francis Piekarski at St. Hedwig’s Church here on Friday morning, May 8th at ten o’clock for Mrs. Wnek and interment followed in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Jerry Wnek, Ramon Cekus, Leon Wnek, Leon Nowobielski, Robert Wnek and Harvey Strzok.

 

Relatives from out of town here to attend the funeral of Mrs. John Wnek Sr, on Friday were Mrs. John Keller, Ramon Cekus and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Lasowski of Chicago.
