Glasshof, Bertha (8 FEB 1888 - 5 JUN 1959)
Bertha Glasshof, 71, passed away at the home of her daughter, Evelyn Ricksham in Minneapolis on Friday, June 5, 1959. She had been in failing health for the past year.
Bertha Soderberg was born in Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) on Feb. 8, 1888, the fifth child in a family of eleven children. She received her education in the Thorp Public Schools.
On June 26, 1907 she was united in marriage to William Glasshof and resided in Thorp, where Mr. Glasshof engaged in the livery business. For the past forty years they operated a farm one and one half miles northeast of Thorp. To this union was born four sons and two daughters. Her husband preceded her in death in Feb. 1951.
She is survived by all of her children. They are: (Evelyn) Mrs. Stanley Ricksham, Minneapolis, Minn.; Truman of Los Angeles; (Dorothy) Mrs. James Biddle of Thorp; William of Hawthorne, N.J.; John of Litchfield, Minn., and Gerald at home; also seventeen grandchildren.
She is also survived by three sisters and two brothers: (Emma) Mrs. Otto Glasshof, Thorp; (Eva) Mrs. Warren Grace, Marinette, Wis., (Esther) Mrs. Frank Stewart of Thorp; and Theodore Soderberg, Peshtigo, Wis.
Funeral services were held at the Thorp Funeral Home on Monday afternoon, June 8, 1959, Rev. William Schreffer officiating, and interment following in the East Thorp Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ronald Glasshof, Gilbert Brown, Kenneth Brown, Roger Warner, Arthur Soderberg, Jr., and Dean Hubbard.
