Mr. and Mrs. Ruddie Elbert and Mrs. Fred Dankemyer did shopping in Spokeville last Tuesday.

It is easy enough said that a man is serving a life sentence in an office, be ti town or county.  9 times out of 10 they are willing to serve, first because that there is something in it, second for the honor’s sake, third if he was to be ousted, he would hate like hel to let go.  Be that as it may, if a man serves a life sentence of that caliber he don’t have to re-organized and to some extent belongs to the upper crust or cream in town.  But again dear friend let me add it is the sour milk that keeps you there.  However it’s our ouw free American will that rules and vote for whom you please.  If a man has fulfilled his duties faithfully and don’t show any signs of enlargement in the upper story let him remain, put if in the contrary, let us render him asleep producer such as has been the case in our town.  So don’t molest him again with a life sentence.

The man who predicted an early spring is a natural born liar or fell short of telling the truth.

Mr. and Mrs. Loyal Jordan will go to Ladysmith next Friday and will remain there some time.

Herman Kettel, the head of the Chili fire water department, made a magnificent statement one day early last week, which may prove of some benefit to the readers.  He stated, "Do not bring up your babies on a bottle if it can be avoided, as there lies the bottom of the evil.  I was a bottle victim when 3 days old and was punished when I refused.  When my time was up, my pants were tanned because I would not refuse."

W.E. Zorn transacted business at Neillsville last week.

Fred Dankemyer is about to build an addition onto his new frame barn.

Mrs. Henry Davis left for Abbotsford last week.

At the time of going to press it looks as though we may get our seeding done by the first of May.

Sherman Davis is chopping fences posts.  That’s a sign that the frost is coming out of the ground.

Pete Madler says that those clay pip stem culverts would do sufficiently well if the town board would station 2 men provided with buckets on each end of the culvert and carry the approaching water across the turnpike.  They are alright in their place, but their place is better off without them.

It is said that the Schmidtke boys will build a new barn this summer.
