At 12 o’clock noon on Saturday, Trinity Lutheran Church of Loyal was the scene of the wedding of Miss Oral Jean Olsen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Olsen, route 1. to Nordeen Gilbertson, son of Henry Gilbertson of Spring Green. Officiant at the rites was the Rev. Floyd Olsen, cousin of the bride. A sermonette was given by the Rev. John Pfohl, local pastor.
For the attendants the bride chose her three sisters, Mrs. Glen Bloom, for her matron of honor, and Mrs. Vern Dahlby and Mrs. Marvin Marg, for bridesmaids. All dresses were designed by the bride. Mrs. Bloom wore white frosted nylon over purple taffeta, accented by a pleated purple cummerbund. Mrs. Dahlby and Mrs. Marg wore white frosted nylon over lavender taffeta with matching lavender cummerbunds. All carried bouquets of yellow roses and tinted carnations.
Delano Gilbertson, Spring green, was his brother’s best man. Groomsmen were cousins of the groom, Rodney Gilbertson of Highland, and Myron Simonson of Spring Green. Ushers were Marvin Marg of Marshfield, brother-in-law of the bride and Malcom Ladd, Lone Rock, cousin of the groom. Vern Dahlby, Loyal, brother-in-law of the bride sang, "Today, O Lord" and "The Lord’s Prayer." The organist was Miss Carole Noeldner.
The floor length gown of the bride, also of her designing was fashioned with a lace bodice with a wide V neckline and long sleeves, pointed at the wrists. The bouffant skirt of nylon net featured side panels of five tier ruffles and front and back panels of lace appliqué on net over satin. Her finger tip veil was attached to a matching lace hat and she carried yellow roses and white snapdragons centered by a white orchid.
One hundred guests attended the dinner given in the church dining room. A reception was given in the afternoon and evening on the lawn at the home of the bride’s parents.
The bride is a graduate of the Loyal High School and Wartburg College, Waverly, Iowa, and is a teacher at Spring Green.
The groom is a graduate of Lone Rock High School and attended the University of Wisconsin. He is a farmer near Spring Green.
Upon the return of the new Mr. and Mrs. Gilbertson from a honeymoon in northern Wisconsin they will live at route 3, Spring Green.
Guests were present at the wedding from Dubuque, Iowa, Omaha Nebraska, Milwaukee, Spring Green, Highland, Blue River, Avoca, Owen, Wausau, Richland Center, Madison, Stoughton, Beaver Dam, Sextonville, Mount Horeb, Mazomanie and Loyal.
