Gwiazdon, Caroline Nettie (13 January 1 924 - 3 November 2011)

Caroline N. Gwiazdon, age 87, of Thorp passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2011, at Oakbrook Health & Rehab in Thorp.  Funeral services were held on Monday, November 7, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lublin.  Rev. John Long officiated and burial followed in the parish cemetery. 

Pallbearers were: Pete Gwiazdon, Jimmy Gwiazdon, Tony Siudak, Eddie Gwiazdon, Ryan Gwiazdon, and David Hyde. Visitation was held at the church, on Monday, November 7, 2011, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.

Caroline Nettie Oryszczyn was born on January 13, 1924, in Thorp, WI, to John and Tatiana "Jessie" (Figura) Oryszczyn.  She was raised on a farm northeast of Thorp and received her education in the Thorp area.  She was united in marriage to Peter Gwiazdon on June 1, 1946, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lublin.  They farmed in the Town of Roosevelt where Caroline was a homemaker, farm wife, and mother of three children.

After Peter’s retirement, Caroline worked at Oakbrook Health & Rehab until her retirement in 1984. She moved to Greenwood and resided there until 2001 when she entered Oakbrook Health & Rehab in Thorp.

She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Caroline had many interests, but she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playing bingo, gardening, puzzles, and cooking Ukrainian specialties.

Caroline is survived by: Her daughter, Roslyn (Tony) Siudak of Eau Claire; her sons: Peter (Marlene) Gwiazdon, Jr. of Osceola, and Jimmy (Lorie) Gwiazdon of Eau Claire; four grandchildren: Jennifer (Josh) Martinez, Angela (Ryan) Palmsteen, Eddie (Michaela) Gwiazdon and Ryan Gwiazdon; six great-grandchildren: Jillian and Jordyn Martinez, and Tommie, Logan, Paige, and Carson Palmsteen. She is further survived by five step-grandchildren: Stefan, Anna, Benjamin, Christian and Sophie Hyde.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Peter, on February 3, 1982; her grandson, Mark Gwiazdon; and two brothers, Walter Oryszczyn and John Ory.
