Fitzl, Fern Mae (30 June 1900 - 8 August 1963)
Mrs. Fern Mae Fitzl, 63, of Rt. 3, Greenwood, died of complications Thursday morning in Neillsville where she was a hospital patient for two days.
Mrs. Fitzl, nee Fern Mae Pruyette, was born to Wallace and Ida (Flater) Pruyette on June 30, 1900, in Cornell. She was married to Anton Fitzl in 1915 in Cornell. After their marriage, the couple lived in Stanley. They moved to Thorp, where her husband died in 1942. She then moved to Illinois, where she resided until 3½ years ago, when she came to Greenwood.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Irene) Johnson, of Woodstock, Ill.; four sons, John, George and Robert Fitzl, all of Greenwood, and Carl Fitzl of Loyal; 22 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Trice of Rib Lake and Mrs. Virgil (Eunice) McElwain of Ladysmith; two brothers, George Pruyette of Cornell and William Bruyette of Rhinelander; and her mother, Mrs. Ida Stanton of Ladysmith.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 9 a.m. from the Hill Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. from St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Loyal. The Rev. Norbert King officiated. Burial was made in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Greenwood.
Pallbearers were: Peter Korntved, Martin Merlak, Edwin Brumbaugh, Jake Barr, Reinholt Lukstein and Bernard Kaiser.
Those from away who attended were: Mr. and Mrs. George Bruyette, Mr. and Mrs. Arnie Johnson of Cornell; Mr. and Mrs. William Bruyette of Rhinelander, Mrs. Grace Trice of Rib Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Hans Johnson and Gordon Johnson of Woodstock, Ill.; Mrs. Emma Fitzsimmons and Bud Fitzsimmons of Minneapolis, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Madison of Hannibal; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Fitzl, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kaiser and Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Kaiser of Loyal; and friends from the Loyal and Greenwood area.
