E. Derby and family moved to Loyal recently.

R. Owen of Withee was in town Friday on business.

Mrs. Ethel Hubbel returned Tuesday from Minnesota.

The Thursday club will meet with Mrs. Bishop this afternoon, Nov. 21.

There will be a dance in the town hall at Hemlock Saturday night, Nov. 23.

The Ladies’ Aid society will meet with Mrs. Behrens Friday afternoon, Nov. 22.

John Nichol returned last week from a visit in New York state and Canada.

Dr. K.W. Baker is practicing in Grand Rapids, having located there recently.

Joe Knop has charge of the power house, having recently taken the place of Lee Tepfer.

The regular Norwegian services will be held Sunday afternoon in the Baptist church.

V.C. Woelffer of Neillsville made a short call at the home of Mrs. L.R. Warner Monday.

The Norwegian Ladies Aid society will meet next Thursday, Nov. 28, at Mrs. Ole Moberg’s.

Andrew Arends and Peter Klass were over from Colby Friday, returning Saturday morning.

R.T. Johnstone, Sr. of Reedsburg, was in town this week making an effort to organize a lodge of Knights of Pithias.

In our mention of C.W. McCullough last week we failed to say that he had bought the place onto which he had moved.

Lee Tepfer disposed of his household goods at auction Friday and has returned to Marshfield, his family going to Unity to visit relatives for awhile.

Mrs. E.T. Burch returned this week from St. Paul where she visited at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C.P. Hill. She also visited her brother, Kin Andrews at Colby.

Mrs. Wm. Schlinsog went with her two grandchildren, Lorna and Vera Keller, to Greenwood last week Thursday where she is visiting her son Wm. and wife. -- Granton News.

Lyulph Cook came up from Elgin, Ill., Monday for a short visit with the home folks. He has been located in Elgin for the past seven years where he is in the restaurant business.

Miss Katharine Arends visited a couple of days last week with her brother John, going Saturday evening to Colby to visit at the home of her brother Andrew Arends. John drove over with her.

Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Meier entertained a party of young people last Wednesday night in honor of their daughter Mona and Fern Dingley, whose birthdays occurred that week. All had a jolly time.

Ralph Thompson came down from Park Falls Thursday night. The Roddis plant shut down temporarily Saturday night on account of the poor business conditions prevailing as a result of the recent financial flurry.

Supervisor Henry Johnson returned Saturday evening from Neillsville having finished his work on the county board. The new office of highway commissioner was created and Harry Hewett elected to fill it. A system of county roads was mapped out and $10,000 raised by the board to build and maintain the roads. The commissioner’s salary of $1,000 was also raised. The main road north and south and the Eaton-Warner town line road through this city are part of the county system. W.C. Thoma of Weston was elected to succeed Ole Samuelson as supervisor of the assessments. The business that interests Greenwood most was the securing, largely by efforts of Supervisor Johnson, of over $2,000 from the county bridge fund to help pay for the improvements on the river bridge. Last year the county board allowed $1,500 for this work and it was only through persistent and skillful work by Mr. Johnson that any more was allowed by the board.
