Chili (19 May 1911)

The farmers are looking for a better hay and grain crop this year and in consequence are a little more hopeful. The pastures and meadows certainly have developed a good growth of grasses the last week and with the present warm weather continued will furnish good feed for a considerable while.

While some late seeding was done here last week, corn planting is now the order of today and tomorrow, as soon as the land is dry enough.

Miss Winifred Strong who was quite sick is able to be around.

The work for the Memorial Day exercises is progressing. The children are hard at work, the choir is practicing and a good speaker for the day is secured.  Everybody is invited to come and take in the day. The parade with music will go out at 9:30 a.m. and the program in the hall will commence at 2 p.m.  All that is needed is good weather.

Anton Hogenson is having quite a few improvements made on his house.  A new porch beautifies the appearance of the south side fronting the street.

The Acme binders and mowers have come to Chili. Degener sells them
