York Center (26 May 1911)

 

The Neillsville Woodmen gave John Parrett a bee last Thursday to plant corn.

 

Horace Lawrence recently purchased a horse of Will Buddenhagen.

 

Mrs. Esther Livingston is still on the sick list.

 

Miss Gertie Free was the guest of her sister, Mrs. Lawrence last Wednesday.

 

Mrs. S. A. Lindsley purchased a cow of Horace Lawrence.

 

John Ure is moving the barn on the Tompson place onto a wall.

 

Ed Voigt was a Granton and Neillsville caller Wednesday.  I wonder why he liked the shade trees so well coming home.

 

Rev. Pound of North York sold one of his horses to Ray Prior of Loyal.

 

The farmers are busy getting their corn ground ready between showers to plant corn.

 

Mr. A. P. Fulwiler was a Neillsville caller Saturday.

 

Mrs. S. A. Lindsley and Mrs. Hattie Turner were Loyal callers Thursday.

 

Mrs. A. J. Flint was seen on our streets Friday.

 

The farmers ought not to complain of a dry season this year as we have had plenty of rain so far.  The crops look fine.

 

Seif & Stelloh of Neillsville came up Saturday and put lightning rods on John VandeBerg’s house.

 

Herbert Free is working for Mr. Ferris.

 

Abram VandeBerg was a Granton caller on Sunday to get his foot dressed.

 

Wm. Rogers gave the guessing contest Saturday evening.  Each one present received a Lincoln penny as a souvenir, but no one was lucky enough to get the dollar.

 

Wm. Campbell delivered veal calves to Loyal Monday.

 

Orin Lawrence purchased the driving pony of John Lastofka.
