Brenner, Alma #1 (OCT 1873 - 18 JUN 1959)
(The first part of my copy is missing) … daughter of Christian and Louise Wieland, natives of Germany. She had reached the age of 85 years and 9 months.
She was married to Andrew Brenner of Durand, Wis., on Oct. 2, 1892 at Sheboygan, Wis.
They made their home in Tower, Minn., where her husband was a butcher until 1900 when they moved to the village of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) and Mrs. Brenner was employed by Herman Friess in the meat market. In 1908 they moved to their farm in the town of Thorp where she lived until she sold the farm in 1946. She then visited among her children until the last several years she spent with her daughter, Mrs. Frank Swienton in Thorp.
Fourteen children were born to this union, all of whom are still living, Walter, LeRoy and Evelyn (Mrs. Frank Swienton) of Thorp, Alfred, Floyd and Edith (Mrs. Herman Raether) of Gilman, Ross and Louisa (Mrs. Frank Misora) of Milwaukee, Fred and Clara (Mrs. Walt Rasmussen) of Kelso, Wash., Florence (Mrs. Richard Ford) of Harrisburg, Ill., George of Loyal, Lucille (Mrs. John Krupa) of Cornell, Wis., Willis of Colfax, Wis.
Also surviving is one brother, Fred Wieland of Plymouth, Wis., forty grandchildren, fifty great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death Nov. 4, 1923.
Funeral services were held Monday June 22 at 2:30 o’clock at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorp, with Rev. Robert Olson officiating. She was laid to rest beside her husband in the Thorp Cemetery (I think she is actually in St. Bernard’s Cemetery).
Pallbearers were 6 grandsons, Walter Jr., Bernard, Orville, Alvin, Floyd and Melvin Brenner.
A precious one from us has gone
A Voice we lived is stilled.
A place is vacant in our home
Which never can be filled.
God in his wisdom has recalled,
The boon his love has given,
And though the body slumbers here,
The soul is safe in heaven.
Out of town persons attending the funeral of Mrs. Alma Brenner here June 22nd were: Mr. and Mrs. Will Brenner, Durand, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Schaetzer, Sheboygan, Wis….(the rest of my copy was cut off)
