Hebert, Verla M. (11 JUL 1920 - 20 NOV 2011)

 

Verla M. Hebert, 91, of Loyal, died on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011 at the Colonial Center, in Colby. 

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011 at the Loyal United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mike Herdt officiating. Burial of cremains will take place in Beaver Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the church.

Verla Marie Seefeld was born on July 11, 1920, in the Town of Unity, Clark County, the daughter of Louis and Winifred (Pickett) Seefeld. She was raised on the family farm and received her education at area country schools and at Spencer High School. 

After completing her education, Verla worked as a housekeeper in Spencer. She was united in marriage to Leland C. Hebert on June 30, 1943 in Colby. Verla was a homemaker and farmwife most of her life. After raising her children, she worked in Marshfield at the Ben Franklin Store, seasonally at Figi's, and at the Riplinger General Store.

She was a member of the Loyal United Methodist Church and enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading and word puzzles.

Verla is survived by three children: Terry (Lillian) Hebert of Greenwood, Kris (Dean) Schweiger of Loyal, Duane Hebert of Loyal; one daughter-in-law: Wendy Hebert of Chisago, Minn.; 21 grandchildren; many great and great-great grandchildren; two brothers: Dale (Jo) Seefeld and Wayne Seefeld, both of Riplinger; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leland, on July 10, 2003; one son, Richard, on March 10, 2006; three sisters: Donna Neustedt, Marian Pryer, Lois Seefeld; and one brother, Dean Seefeld.
