East Lynn (30 June 1911)

Mrs. Fred Zuehlke returned from Milwaukee last Wednesday where she made a two weeks visit with friends and relatives.

John Ure is moving Fred Lichte’ barn onto a stone foundation; which he had erected a short time ago.

Gus Hamm who has never been know to tell a lie any longer than a clothesline says his corn is all tasseled out and will be ripe and ready to cut the middle of July.  He will advertise seed corn for sale later on.

Max Opelt promised us an auto ride so long ago it seems like a dream, but still we have hopes.

Will Guk says the surest way to kill a potato bug is to hang him upside of a barn by one hind leg and hit him a swipe with a fence rail.

Jim Quicker went blueberrying Sunday morning. The results have not yet been learned.

W. Albrecht and C. Guk drove to Neillsville last Thursday and returned each with a new Deering binder that they purchased of John Howard.

Louis Sternitzky helped Fred Grade shingle his barn last Saturday.

A number from here attended the picnic in the Town of Grant Sunday.

Oscar Franke took a load of cheese to Marshfield last Thursday for Harry Eide.

With butterfat down to 25 cents per pound, the grain all lodged, sugar beets a total failure, the fourth of July in sight, no money on hand and potato bugs galore, is it any wonder that the farmers look as sour as Harry Eide’s whey tank?

Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Kleinschmidt attended the Eagles’ convention at Marshfield last Thursday.

Mr. and Mrs. R. Guk and Mrs. W. Albrecht took the Sunday morning train at Chili enroute for Marshfield where they attended the birthday party at Geo Bauman’s and returned Monday.
