Arthur William Petkovsek was born on April 27, 1932, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Tony and Dorothy (nee Anderson) Petkovsek. He graduated from Greenwood High School in 1950. He married Jeannette (Aumann) Bentzler on May 14, 1977.They lived in Greenwood until moving to Owen in January 2009. Although he became infected with polio when he was five years old, he never let that keep him from working daily at his shop rewinding motors or cutting meat. In 2003, he was honored as the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce’s citizen of the year. Later that year, he closed his business for health reasons. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and driving through the country. His trips to Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, and Canada for hunting, fishing, and visiting family were highlights of his year. Thanks to his brother, Bob, who accompanied him on handicapped hunts, Art harvested his last deer in 2010. He is now free from braces and wheelchairs.
