Larry D. Knutson, 71, Marshfield, died on Friday, Nov. 25, 2011, surrounded by his family at the Palliative Care Unit at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m., on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield. Rev. Chis Schwanz will officiate. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Marshfield.
Larry Knutson was born on Sept. 16, 1940, in Arpin, to Ole and Margaret (Strupp) Knutson. He attended Arpin Elementary and Auburndale High School. He married Linda E. Schaefer on March 13, 1978. She died on July 19, 2011. He worked for 44 years at Weyerhauser Company in Marshfield before retiring in 2004. During this time he also drove for Radio Cab in Marshfield for 36 years. After their marriage, he and Linda operated an adult foster home for the developmentally disabled for 13 years. They enjoyed traveling, particularly to Branson, Mo.
Survivors include his step-children, Ronald (Marilyn) Brost, Unity, Randy Brost, Unity, Rodger (Eren) Brost, Murrieta, Calif., Renee (James) Elpert, Unity, Roxanne (Paul) Wetterau, Spencer, Rosalee Rogers, Unity, and Rhonda (Richard) McBride, Jr., Unity; 24 step-grandchildren; 25 step great-grandchildren; two step great-great-grandchildren; one brother Glen (Jean) Knutson, Arpin; two sisters, Nina Wellnitz, Arpin, and Elaine (Alroy) Kempf, Marshfield; a sister-in-law, Esther Knutson, Rockford, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Linda; a brother, Harold; and infant sister; and a brother-in-law, Roy Wellnitz.
Memorials mat be designated in his name to Immanuel Lutheran School.
