Verla M. Hebert, 91, Loyal, died on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, at the Colonial Center, Colby. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday. Nov. 23 at the Loyal United Methodist Church. Rev. Mike Herdt officiated. Burial of cremains will take place in Beaver Cemetery at a later date.
Verla Marie Seefeld was born on July 11, 1920, in the town of Unity, Clark County, the daughter of Louis and Winifred (nee Pickett) Seefeld. She was raised on the family farm and received her education at area country schools and at Spencer High School. After completing her education, she worked as a housekeeper in Spencer. She married Leland C. Hebert on June 10, 1943, in Colby. She was a homemaker and farm wife most of her life. After raising her children, she worked in Marshfield at the Ben Franklin Store, seasonally at Figi’s, and at the Riplinger General Store. She was a member of the Loyal United Methodist Church and enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading and word puzzles.
Survivors include three children, Terry (Lillian) Hebert, Greenwood, Kris (Dean) Schweiger, Loyal, and Duane Hebert, Loyal; one daughter-in-law, Wendy Hebert, Chisago, Minn.: 21 grandchildren; many great and great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Dale (Jo) Seefeld, Riplinger, and Wayne Seefeld, Riplimger; and several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leland, on July 10, 2001; one son, Richard, on March 10, 2006; three sisters, Donna Neustedt, Marian Pryer and Lois Seefeld; and one brother, Dean Seefeld.
