The Rev. John Brandt receive his release from St. Peter’s Lutheran congregation, Dorchester and Christ Lutheran congregation, Abbotsford at a special meeting of the two congregations held last week Friday.

 

On account of the large amount of work in the two congregations, pastor Brandt expressed his wish to be relieved of his duties here. Although the congregations regretted to see their pastor leave, they consented to his wish. The Brandts will remain in Dorchester for the remainder of this month and then take over a congregation at Hewitt. 

 

Coming from Ellendale, North Dakota, Pastor Brandt began his work in Dorchester in the year 1927, being installed in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church on Sept. 4. After serving the one congregation for a year, he began serving Christ Lutheran congregation in Abbotsford, having his first service eon thanksgiving day 1928 and since has been in charge of the two congregations.

Farewell Party Given for the Rev. Brandt Family

 

A farewell party was held for the Rev. John Brandt and family in the basement of St. Peter’s Lutheran church at Dorchester on Sunday evening. 

 

Both the Dorchester and Christ Lutheran congregation of Abbotsford were well represented. The congregations remembered Rev. Brandt with a gift of silver and a mimeograph machine.

 

A program had been arranged by Herbert Juneau, Dorchester; Short talks were given by the pastors, A. C. Stapel, Spencer, and Victor Brandt, of Bessemer Mich., and by the presidents of the two congregations, H. J. Amacher, Abbotsford, and Martin Parsons, Dorchester.

 

The choir sang "Long, Long Ago," "Auld Lang Syne," "God Be With You Til We Meet Again" and "Onward Christian Soldiers."
