Lawrence, Harry Horace (17 March 1889 - 2 September 1963)

 

Funeral services for Harry Horace Lawrence, 74, of 1103 E. Blodgett Street, Marshfield, were held Saturday afternoon from the York Center Methodist Church. Mr. Lawrence was killed Labor Day in a car accident near Missoula, Mont. The Rev. Paul Doering of Loyal officiated and burial was made in the York Center Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were Walter Richardson, Frank E. Richardson, Ray Lawrence, Eldon Lawrence, Byrl Buddenhagen and Donald Free. Nyle Benedict, accompanied by Mrs. Donald Pinkerton, sang two hymns, "Beyond the Sunset" and "In the Garden," at the double service for the Lawrence brothers.

 

Harry Horace Lawrence was born March 17, 1889, in the Town of York and was the son of the late Horace and Edna Mae (Smithers) Lawrence.  He attended Town of York schools and after finishing school left for the stern states where he worked.  He returned to the Town of York and on March 9, 1910, he was married to Lucy Free in Neillsville. She died in 1960.

 

He retired from farming in 1936 and from then until 1939 worked as a car salesman and later worked at the Roddis plant in Marshfield.  He retired from active work in 1955.

 

Mr. Lawrence is survived by two sons, Gilbert of Granton, and Byrl of Marshfield; and two daughters, Mrs. Walter (Velda) Richardson of Madison, and Mrs. Lee (Vera) Buddenhagen of Neillsville.  Other survivors are a sister, Mrs. Harmon (Floy) Huntley of Neillsville; and two brothers, Orin of Neillsville, and Earl of Missoula, Mont; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  A brother Roy Lawrence died result of the same car accident.

 

Funeral arrangements were made by the Georgas Funeral Home.
