Glen was born Dec. 17, 1930, on a farm near Chili in Clark County
to Leona and Louise Wickersham.
The family, shortly after, moved to Marshfield where he attended
Marshfield Senior High School. Glen was active in band and sports
in high school and played the saxophone in the late Russ Nelson
Band. After graduating high school in 1948, he enlisted in the Air
Force.
Glen served in the Korean War as
a tail gunner and was stationed in Japan for two years. On his
first leave home he was in a major car accident at what was known
as Ronivoo Corners. This put him in the hospital for a year. He
then finished his remaining tour for the Air Force as a Master
Sergeant in a Bomb Demolition Unit.
After his release from service he went to the Elgin Jewelry School
in Illinois and did his apprentice training in Burlington before
coming back to Colby where Glen and Audrey open their first Jewelry
store in Abbotsford in 1959.
Glen met his sister Joyce's friend, Audrey Krueger, in 1955 and
married her April 6, 1956, in Milwaukee and this year they
celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.
As his family grew so did his business and when his children were
old enough they joined him in the jewelry business and opened
stores in Abbotsford, Neillsville, Marshfield, Rothschild and
Rhinelander.
Glen was preceded in death by his mother and father; one brother,
Edwin "Buzz" Wickersham; one sister, Mary Lou Schiesl; and his
firstborn son, Gary Wickersham, who passed away in 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey, of Colby; two sons, Robert
(Beth Busscher) Wickersham of Spencer and Jeffery (Tammy)
Wickersham of Weston; a daughter, Debra (Victor) Borgemoen of
Colby; eight grandchildren, Kyle and Kaela Wickersham, Ryan and
Ryanna Borgemoen, Ashley and Brandon Wickersham, and Zachary and
Elizabeth Wickersham.
He is further survived by brothers, Harold Wickersham of Kenosha
and John (Lorena) Wickersham of Delavan; and a sister, Joyce
(Donald) Deichsel of Delavan.
Glen loved to hunt, fish, golf, and spend time with his
grandchildren. He loved watching the Brewers and the Packers. He
was involved with the Abbotsford Lions, Abby/Colby Chamber of
Commerce, a member of the Christ Lutheran Church Choir,
Colby VFW,
and the Marshfield Elks. He was loved by many and will be greatly
missed.
