Dear Mr. Baer.

Please forgive me for not writing any news this week, but I am unable to do so.  My wife and me had another little argument last night and she said that she was going home and live with her ma.  And by heck she has up and done it now.  Mr. editor you see that leaves me in a bad fix as regards news. I can chase around and talk to the neighbors and find out what’s going on but I don’t seem to be able to write it down so it sounds right.  My wife always done the writing and I done the news getting.  So you will have to excuse my not writing any more news until my wife makes up with me and comes home to live again.
