Berg, Thomas (17 June 1893 - 10 October1963)

 

Thomas Berg, 70, a former Clark County Highway Department employee, was buried in the Loyal Cemetery Sunday following services in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in the Town of (blotch) Taylor County.  Mr. Berg died October 10 at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Romaine Rossow in Loyal, where he had made his home since becoming ill several months ago.

 

The Rev. Roger Tellock was in charge of the service, and vocal music was provided by Miss Bunee Kraut, accompanied by Mrs. Norman Nelson.

 

Pallbearers, all nephews, were Harvey Schaefer, Tom Olson, Clarence Brecke, Myron Brecke, Edward Brecke and Vernon Brecke.

 

Masonic rites were held at 9 p.m. Saturday in the Myre Funeral Home in Loyal.

 

Mr. Berg was born June 17, 1893, in Appleton. As a young man he moved with his parents to South Dakota.  On August 3, 1916 he was married to Lillian Brecke and they settled on a  farm in Taylor County.  In 1930, they moved to Loyal, where he was employed by the Clark County Highway Department.  Mrs. Berg died in May of 1952, and he was married October 2, 1954, in Medford to Mrs. Pearl Rietz. They made their home in Medford until his last illness, when he made his home with his daughter in Loyal.

 

Surviving besides Mrs. Rossow, is another daughter, Mrs. Robert (Marliss) Bloom of Milwaukee, two step-daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Templeton of Medford, and Mrs. Harley (Marcella) Alton of Oak Lawn, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. Warner Walker of Elkton, S. D.; and three brothers, Oscar of Lemmon, S. D., Earl of Huron, S.  D., and Carse of De Smet, S. D.
