Schroeder, Ellen (Marriage - 12 October 1963)
The United Church of Christ in Alma was the scene October 12 of a candlelight nuptial ceremony that united in marriage Miss Ellen Schroeder of Alma, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. August Schroeder, and Lowell D. Trewartha of Whitehall, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold L. Trewartha of Neillsville. One hundred guests were present. The Rev. Gene Krueger officiated.
The bride, given in marriage by her brother-in-law, Kenneth Biagioni of Antigo, approached the altar in a white silk faille street-length dress. Motifs of Alencon lace highlighted the front panel of the skirt. A self-material rose was attached to the back waistline. The fitted bodice was fashioned with a bateau neckline that was outlined with appliqués of Alencon lace re-embroidered in pearls and sequins. A shoulder veil was held secure by a crown of pearls and rhinestones. Her bridal bouquet was one long-stem white rose.
Mrs. Jerome Benson of Nelson was matron-of-honor. She wore a willow green Peau de satin street-length dress. A three-dimensional rose outlined each side of the back panel. The bodice, with three-quarter-length sleeves, was styled with a romance neckline. Her matching willow green crown, studded with pearls, secured a short veil. She, also, carried one long-stem yellow rose.
Bestman was Jerome Benson. Ushers were Wayne Schroeder, brother of the bride from Antigo, and Cyril Murphy of La Crosse.
The bride is a graduate of Antigo High School and has a bachelor’s degree from Lakeland College, Plymouth. She is employed as a caseworker in the Buffalo County Welfare Department.
Mr. Trewartha, a graduate of Neillsville High School, holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin and University of Wisconsin Graduate School of Social Work. He is employed in the Trempealeau County Welfare Department as a caseworker supervisor.
Mr. and Mrs. Trewartha will reside in Whitehall following a northern Wisconsin wedding trip.
Among those attending the wedding were: Mr. and Mrs. Harold Trewartha, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Tibbett and daughter of Neillsville; Miss Ruth Pietenpol, Miss Daphne Beeckler, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Pietenpol and daughter, all of Granton; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Prochnow and family of Waupaca; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pietenpol of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Luther Johnson of Ironwood, Mich.; and Mr. and Mrs. David Pietenpol of Altoona.
