W.D. Rose sold his 80 acre farm her in the town of York to E.R. Wonser and through the deal became the owner of a 40 acre farm just at the north of the Marshfield city limits.
The Mesdames G.L. Beardsley, Julius Neverman and Wm. Huntley Jr., all of Neillsville, spent Thrusday afternoon of last week with Mrs. Otis Beardsley here at the Home King home.
Chas. Bladl and sons Carl and Paul, and daughter Anna left for Hokah, Minn. Monday to attend the wedding of his sister and visit with his parents, returning again on Friday.
Mrs. Geo. Frei visited at the J. Frei home in the town of Levis from Saturday until Tuesday. George joined her there at the barn raising on Monday.
Webb Winn leaves for Cassville this morning to join his wife for a visit there and in La Crosse County before returning next week Wednesday.
Ray and Vera Huff will leave their home near Swift Current in the Sask. District of Canada, today.
Rev. Reiff’s parish will observe Children’s day a week from Sunday by appropriate services and a picnic in the grove. Everybody is invited. Dinner will be served to the public for a nominal sum. The Granton Brass Band has been engaged to furnish the music.
A terrible electric storm with an awful downpour of rain engaged the attention of the countryside hereabouts all Wednesday night. John Ure of the town of Lynn and Hank Lenhart of Nasonville suffered the loss of big barns, farm machinery and other valuables.
Vernon Wright has resigned his position with the Connor Lumber co. at Laona and will be home this evening for an over Sunday stay before leaving for Duluth where he has employment with a big hardware firm which employs his cousin Earl Marsh.
Aug. Teatz was called to Jefferson County last week by the death of his father. In his absence his son Harry, who has been in poor health for months past and suffering mentally, became alarmingly worse mentally while at Neillsville on Monday and is being detained at that place until his father’s return.
Mrs. John Ebbe and Mrs. Hans Paulson Sr., spent much of last week at the Pete Paulson and Chris Ebbe homes in Neillsville. They autoed over Monday evening with Pete Paulson for a visit at the D.S. Rausch home before returning to Nasonville. Mr. Rausch took them home by auto from there.
Among the Neillsville High School graduates this year are Rex Beeckler, Clark Brooks, Mariah Davis, Elsie Johnson, Shirley Knorr, Adelma Nickel, Elsie Neitzel and James Ure, eight well known and worthy young people, former students here and at Lynn, and of whom we are justly proud. The commencement exercises were held there last evening.
Mrs. Rice Davis is quite under the weather again this week.
Miss Lillie Shapiro, one of the teachers, by consent of the Board, finished this years work Wednesday noon and joined her mother at Marshfield, and with her left that city that night for New York City where on June 5th they will embark for Europe to spend the summer with relatives. They go first to Paris, France.
Mr. and Mrs. Alwin Soles came down from Spencer Tuesday to visit their son Edward and his wife. This is their first visit here since their return from New York State some time since. They went last October and spent several months among the old friends of their childhood. Both are looking well and appear to have renewed their youth.
