Brooks, Jane E. #3 (2 Oct 1833 - 23 May 1913)

The funeral of Mrs. Jane E. brooks, who died last Friday, was held from her home at Neillsville Sunday afternoon, the M.E. minister officiating.  She was one of Clark County’s pioneer women and contributed to the leaven of culture and conservatism in a new population and by a great gift of the good God she at 79 years of age preserved a kindling interest in things present, and the things to come, as well as the precious memories of things past.  She is survived by two sons, George R. of the town of Lynn and Charles E. of the town of York.  Both of whom, with members of their families, were with her in her last sickness.  Following the services at the house, interment was made in the Lynn Cemetery beside the body of her late husband, Alonzo Brooks, who preceded her in death by three years, and one daughter Jennie who died at the age of 17 years.
