Engen, Irene (13 January 1931 –3 December 2011)
Irene Nanstad-Engen, 80, of Edgerton passed away Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, at Agrace HospiceCare Inc., Fitchburg.
She was born Jan. 13, 1931, to the late William and Linda (Schwantes) Naedler, in Granton. She was united in marriage Jan. 27, 1951, to Dale R. Nanstad. He preceded her in death Nov. 7, 1969. She then married Norman Engen Sept. 26, 1987. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Janesville, and also a past member of East Koshkonong Lutheran Church, where she had been very active.
She enjoyed cooking, baking, reading and playing cards. Her special love was spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by two daughters, Margine (Ron) Strouse and Joanne (Bruce) Clary, both of Edgerton; three sons, James (Toni) Nanstad, Massachusetts, Jerry (Patty) Nanstad and Dale Nanstad, both of Edgerton; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Marvin (Mary) Naedler, Granton, and William (Cheryl) Naedler, Chicago; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Janesville, with the Rev. Randall Senn officiating. Burial will be at the Fulton Cemetery. Friends may call at the Ehlert Funeral home, (US Hwy 51 S) Edgerton, Wednesday, Dec. 7, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and at the church Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the services.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church or HospiceCare Inc. or the Janesville YWCA Women’s Shelter.
