Biddle, Lola E. #3 (1939 - 29 NOV 1959)
A 20-year-old rural Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) girl killed herself with a high powered rifle Sunday afternoon at the home of her parents.
Death of Lola Elaine Biddle is "without doubt a suicide," Clark County Coroner Robert Lulloff reported. He was called to the home with other authorities after her body was found by an eight-year-old brother, Roger, in the bathroom.
Mr. and Mrs. James Biddle, her parents, said she had been despondent in recent weeks, but they did not know what might have been bothering her. She was left in care of three younger children Sunday afternoon while her parents and several other of the nine children attended church at Gilman. She was apparently in good spirits, washing dishes, when they left. Roger called neighbors who notified authorities after he found the body. A 38-55 caliber rifle lay beside the dead girl.
Also at the scene, a mile west and one and one-half miles north of here were Clark County Sheriff Frank Dobes and Thorp Police Chief Ed Harycki.
Funeral services for the deceased were conducted by the Rev. Will Schreffer of Stanley at the Thorp funeral Chapel at 2:00 o’clock Wednesday afternoon and interment took place in the East Thorp Cemetery.
