Pankow, Carl F. #2 (7 JUN 1885 - 7 FEB 1961)
Carl Pankow, 76, a resident of the rural Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) community for the past 49 years, was stricken with a heart attack the Saturday of last week, which necessitated his hospitalization at St. Joseph’s Hospital at Marshfield, where he passed away Tuesday, Feb. 7th, 1961.
Funeral services were conducted from the Hoeper and Kraut Fuenral Home at 2:00 Saturday afternoon. The Rev. Ralph Claybaugh of the First congregational Church, Owen, officiated at the final rites, with burial being made at Riverside Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were Bert Eberts, Ray and August Slock, Morris Martin, John Hemminger and Herman Klabon. Acting as pallbearers were David McVey, Courtland Hamel, Lloyd Hamel, Walter Nowak, Chester Svikla and Marvin Sverum. In charge of the floral offerings were Mrs. Svikla, Mrs. Lloyd Hamel and Mrs. Walter Nowak.
Carl Frederick Pankow was born to Mr. and Mrs. Carl Pankow Sr., June 7, 1885, in Illinois. He came to this community in 1912 from Rock Island, Ill., settling on a farm in the Town of Hixon, where he farmed until his retirement in 1946. On May 27, 1945 he was united in marriage to Mary Bingham at Medford. Upon their retirement the couple has since resided in the Town of Maplehurst, Taylor Co.
The couple had no children but his passing is mourned by his wife, two nieces, Mrs. Arlie (Martha) Melbinger, North Riverside, Ill., and Mrs. Joe (Helen) Cavaleri, Waukesha, Wis., and a nephew, Louis Stark, Allenton, Wis.
