Pleasant Ridge (21 November 1963)

 

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gies and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Gies returned Friday from Lansing, Mich., where they had attended the funeral of Mrs. Shirley Paul, 35, daughter and sister of the Gieses.  Glenn Short did chores for the Gies family while they were away.

 

The Pleasant Ridge Homemaker Club met Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Gordon Vine.  The project, "Pressing Process," was given by Mrs. Harold Huckstead and Mrs. Dale Short.

 

Mrs. Clarion Counsell and Mrs. Genevieve Hantke were in Greenwood Saturday, where they attended a craft laboratory.

 

Miss Shirley Magnuson of Minneapolis, Minn., spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Magnuson.

 

Bill Vine and Art Hubing drove to Madison one day last week and were accompanied home by Alfred Magnuson, who had been a patient several weeks in the Veteran’s Hospital.

 

A group of relatives and friends gathered at the Alfred Magnuson home Saturday evening to honor Mr. Magnuson on his birthday.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Kessler of Pine Valley and Mrs. Lillian Severson of Neillsville were Sunday afternoon visitors at the Nina Blackman home.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Gerhardt were hosts to their card club Tuesday evening.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Emil Zdun and eight children of Pittsville were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Larsen.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Larsen visited Wednesday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Soren Larsen. Soren is convalescing from recent major surgery.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Leo Hemp of Globe were Sunday dinner guests at the Clarion Counsell home.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Larsen visited Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Ottow.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Leon Smith of Chippewa Falls were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Paulson and Joyce.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Bills left Sunday for their home in Madison after spending a week with their daughter, Mrs. Vernon Drescher, and her family. The Bills are building a new house on their farm, which is operated by the Drescher family.

 

Jimmy and Paul Drescher have chickenpox. Their father, Robert Drescher, has been confined to his home with an ear infection for several days.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Drescher are making plans to entertain Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Lezotte and children, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Drescher and family and Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Drescher for Thanksgiving.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Dale Short recently attended the annual meeting of the Wisconsin Fur Breeders association in Marshfield.  Mr. Short, a past president of the association, is a director.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Kurth entertained recently for the 21st birthday of their son, Wayne. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Norman Wesenberg, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Krause, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Garbisch, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Goebel and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Krause.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ratsch entertained a few friends of their sons, Russell and Jimmy, last Thursday. The occasion was the 15th birthday of Russell and the 12th birthday of Jimmy.
