Schoen, Lila V. (11 February 1927 - 9 December 2011)

 

Lila V. Schoen (nee Johnson), 84, formerly of Neillsville, died Friday, December 9, 2011, at Linden Grove in Waukesha.  Lila died shortly after experiencing a stroke.

 

Lila V. Schoen was born Feb. 11, 1927, in Tigerton, the daughter of Orrie and Myrtle (Fink) Johnson.  Lila graduated from St. Agnes School of Nursing in 1948. For most of her distinguished nursing career, she worked as a nurse at Neillsville Memorial Hospital.  Lila loved being a nurse.

 

Lila married Franklin J. Schoen, Sr., Sept. 18, 1948, in Wittenberg. She partnered with Franklin to operate a dairy farm at W4603 State Highway 73.  Lila and her husband Franklin lived at this location for over 45 years.  In addition to being a nurse, Lila was always busy - decorating cakes, sewing clothes, canning the vegetables from their large gardens and taking fishing trips with Franklin. Lila and Franklin spend over 20 winters near Mission, TX.

 

Lila is survived by two daughters, Maurine (Richard) Willey of Pewaukee, and Debra (Lowell) Richter of Granite Falls, WA; three sons, Franklin (Teresa) Schoen, Jr. of Neillsville, Michael (Phyllis) Schoen of Neillsville and David (Francine) Schoen of Cheyenne, WY; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  Lila is furthered survived by two sisters, Donna (Curtis) Peterson of Rochester and Lorraine (Marlyn) Ebert of Weyauwega, and one brother, Dale (Sue) Johnson of Park City, MT.  She is also survived by dear in-laws, Ed (Grace) Schoen of Neillsville, Eleanor Neville of Glenwood City and Lou Hainz of Neillsville, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

 

Lila was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin; her parents, Orrie and Myrtle; and her twin brother, Leo.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville.  Rev. Varkey V. Joseph was the celebrant.  Providing music was Ronald Resong, organist and St. Mary’s Choir.  Visitation was held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday prior to the service at the church. Interment was made in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
