Feind, Genevieve L. (22 OCT 1913 - 14 DEC 2011)

 

Genevieve L. Feind, 98, of Colby, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, in Milwaukee at the home of her daughter. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Colby. Father Daniel Hackel will officiate. 

A visitation will be held Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow the service at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Colby.

Genevieve was born Oct. 22, 1913, to Adolph and Elizabeth (Klavinski) Grieger in Athens. As a child in the summer, Genevieve traveled with her parents picking ferns to sell, staying in various camps along the way. She received her education in the rural Athens area. Genevieve was united in marriage to Ernest Feind on Aug. 29, 1933, at the St. Mary's Rectory in Colby. The two of them raised their family and farmed their entire lives in the Town of Colby. 

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a member of the St. Mary's Christian Mothers Association.

Genevieve enjoyed outdoors, fishing, gardening, cooking, baking, and making quilts. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Joyce (the late Donald) Runke of Milwaukee, Shirley (the late Anthony) Groshek of Milwaukee, Dennis (Carol) Feind of Abbotsford, and Darlene (Dennis) Frome of Colby. She is further survived by 19 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. 

Genevieve was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; her son, David; her brother, Gilbert Grieger; her sister, Angeline Grieger; three half-brothers, and numerous step-brothers and step-sisters.
