Neillsville Area Locals (12 December 1963)

Mr. and Mrs. John Flynn, Jr., and son of Oshkosh were weekend visitors at the John Flynn, Sr. and Elwyn Baker homes.

Guests at the Herman Dahnert home a few days last week were Mr. and Mrs. Donald Feuerhelm and family of Hokah, Minn., and the Donald Syth family of Eau Claire.

Mr. and Mrs. John Swenson visited Thursday with David Aldsworth, a hospital patient in Chippewa Falls.  Mr. Aldsworth, a brother-in-law of the Swenson’s, recently fractured several ribs.

G. W. Aumann and son, Robert, of Milwaukee, visited Saturday with relatives in Neillsville.

Mr. and Mrs. George Prochazka entertained their 500 card club Monday afternoon.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Markwardt visited Sunday at the Keith Lea home in Stevens Point.  Mrs. Art Imig accompanied them as far as Wisconsin Rapids and visited at the Louis Seif home there.

Mrs. Kenneth Burr underwent surgery Monday at Memorial Hospital. The Burr children are being cared for by their grandparents, Mr. And Mrs. Garald Hart. 

Patsy Bedell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bedell, is a patient at Memorial Hospital. She has pneumonia.

Mr. and Mrs. Linus Prock visited their daughter and family Sunday at the James McConnell home in Greenwood.

Mr. and Mrs. William Hogan and daughter of Davenport, Ia., will visit this weekend at the Linus Prock home.

Mr. and Mrs. Linus Prock will leave this weekend for Bettendorf, Ia., to spend the holidays and part of the winter at the John McKenzie home.

Mrs. Ordie Marshall returned home Tuesday from Rockford, Ill., where she was called by the death of her mother, Mrs. Anna Chapman.  She also visited her brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ernst Bauer, also of Rockford.

Mrs. Art Ziegler of Marion spent Monday visiting at the Thaddeus Zajac home.

Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Kalsow entertained at dinner Sunday in honor of Mrs. Kalsow’s birthday. Those present were, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Bell, Barbara and Linda, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Kalsow and Petra, Gerhardt Scheel and William Hoffmann.

The Study Club, made up of members of the former Monday Progress Club, met Monday at a supper club here for a noon luncheon and a Christmas program.  Instead of exchanging gifts the ladies took up a collection which was given to a worthy person.

Miss Bernadine Peterson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Peterson and a faculty member of Kansas State University at Manhattan, Kans., is spending this week with the Peterson’s. 

Mrs. Lewis Scholtz will be hostess this (Thursday) afternoon at 2 o’clock to the Pleasant Ridge circle of the Methodist Church.

Miss Kathy Stelse spent the weekend with friends in La Crosse.           

Mrs. Carl Lewerenz entertained her Canasta Club last Wednesday.

Alan Carl of Racine arrived Tuesday evening for an overnight visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Carl.  He came to take part in the court of honor for four Eagle Scouts Wednesday evening.  He was taken back to Racine by his father.

Mr. and Mrs. W. Jay Bruhn and daughter of Muskego spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bruhn.

Mr. and Mrs. Homer Webster and family have moved into their new home near the Newell home they have occupied for several years.

Kenneth Bonney spent the weekend with his brother and family in Cameron. He was accompanied as far as Rice Lake by Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Campbell, who spent the weekend with their cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Wilson and Riley Wilson.

County Judge and Mrs. Lowell Schoengarth attended the county judges’ convention in Milwaukee last week. 

Mrs.  George Shaw is spending two weeks in Oshkosh caring for her grandchildren while their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lowe, are in Kansas looking for a place to live.  Mr. Lowe, a salesman, has been transferred to Kansas.

The Gray Ladies visited the Subke Old Folks Home last week Wednesday afternoon and Tuesday evening. Each time entertainment was furnished for the patients.

Thanksgiving Day guests at the Gareth Bollom home were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bollom, Mrs. Robert Dwyer, Miss Hattie Winton, all of Neillsville; and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Fradette and family of Eau Claire.

Miss Lorraine Schoenherr of Merrill spent Friday and Saturday at the Gareth Bollom home.

Mr. and Mrs. Werner Mattson of Milwaukee spent the week of Thanksgiving with her sister at the Henry Markwardt home. 

Five hunters from Fort Atkinson spent the week at the Henry Markwardt home.

Thanksgiving supper guests at the Gerald Schmidt home were Mr. and Mrs. Claire Smale and Georgiann.

Thanksgiving Day guests at the George Prochazka home were Mr. and Mrs. Dick Prochazka and family of Rochester, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Art Schlinsog and Miss Stella Davis.

Mr. and Mrs. George Prochazka, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Suckow and Miss Stella Davis enjoyed an evening of cards Thursday in honor of George’s birthday. 

Thanksgiving Day guests at the Garald Hart home were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bedell and family, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Burr and family, Mr. and Mrs. Elton Imig, Clarence and Nick Gangler.

Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Bonney spent last Monday at the Jerry Bonney home in Cameron.

Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Gerhardt of Owen and Mr. and Mrs. William Hughes of Neillsville spent Thanksgiving Day at the Joe Schindler home in Owen.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Meyer and family were Thanksgiving Day guests at the Bernard Haas home.

Gina and Kelly Metcalf of Kenosha spent the week with their aunt at the Robert Gress home.

Mrs. Nordall Stigen spent several days with her daughter and family at the Gary Northup home in Union Grove.

Mr. and Mrs. Emil Kulhavy of Chicago spent from Friday until Sunday at the Henry and Terry Becker homes.

Mr. and Mrs. Al Mashin were Thanksgiving Day guests at the Dale Hake home.

Walter Holman of Milwaukee visited Wednesday evening at  the Garald Hart home.  He was on his way to Ladysmith to hunt. 

Thanksgiving Day guests at the Ray Paulson home were their two daughters and families, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Traina and three children of Milwaukee, and Mr. and Mrs. Gale Dyer and two children of Marshfield.

Casimer Zajac of Los Angeles, Calif., has been spending two weeks here with relatives.  He spent Thanksgiving Day and Friday at the Thaddeus Zajac home, leaving Saturday morning by jet from Chicago for his home.

Cherylynne Zajac of Eau Claire State College spent from Wednesday until Sunday with her parents at the Thaddeus Zajac home.

Mr. and Mrs. John Negaard and son, Jackie, of Stevens Point spent last weekend at the Martin Feuerstein home.

Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Wirkuty and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wirkuty and family of Milwaukee, spent Thanksgiving Day at the Edwin Gall home.

Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Schwellenbach and family of Beloit spent Thanksgiving and the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Schwellenbach.

Joe Schwellenbach of Eau Claire spent the weekend with his grandparents at the William Schwellenbach home.
