Humbird (19 December 1963)

Mrs. Dick Walker and Jackie and Mrs. Melvin Walker visited in Eau Claire Saturday.

John Burchell and Bert Flick of Fairchild, representing the American Legion, and Mrs. Raymond Stuve and Mrs. Sam Newton of the Auxiliary, were business callers in Neillsville Wednesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Cullen Dignin and Mrs. Mattie Smith were in Neillsville Wednesday.  Mrs. Smith had a check-up.

Col. And Mrs. Neil Hein are in New Mexico and Col. Neil writes his parents, "We’ve no Christmas trees here, can we share yours?"  So Bill says, "Looks like we are having company for Christmas.  Good!"

Mrs. Lottie Flynn left Sunday for Baraboo, where she will visit her daughter, Madge Clem and her son John, and family in Berwyn, Ill.

Among those from here who attended the funeral services for Wilfred Flood in Neillsville Saturday were Mr. and Mrs. John Greub and Mr. and Mrs. Chet Bailey.

Mrs. E. Burchell drove to Neillsville Wednesday taking Mrs. Archie Sparkes over to see her husband in the hospital.  Mr. Burchell and Bert Flick of Fairchild accompanied them.

Mr. and Mrs. Keith Johnson and Clay, Mrs. Mary Johnson and Mrs. Lucy Gephart attended a dinner party Sunday in the Francis Johnson home in Merrillan in honor of Keith Johnson’s birthday.

Mr. and Mrs. Leland Duxbury were Black River Falls visitors Saturday.

Fred Rupnow suffered severe burns on his hands during the fire in the Lloyd Johnson home in Neillsville recently.  He will be laid up for some time.  Perle Pickett, who suffered minor burns, is back at work.

Cheryl Burkhalter, a La Crosse student, spent the weekend with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Olson.

Peter Hemmy, who was in the hospital at Mondovi with a broken leg, has been moved to the rest home where he can be with Mrs. Hemmy.  Everyone will be glad to know that though he must be in bed, they can be together.

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Prock and family and Mr. and Mrs. Mortenson and family all of Neillsville, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Walker and children of rural Fairchild, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jackson and children of Greenwood gathered at the home of their mother, Mrs. Harry Hanson, Sunday, to give her a surprise Christmas party, as she plans to go to Minneapolis to spend Christmas with her youngest daughter, Mrs. Light.

Mr. and Mrs. Levi Fitzmaurice braved the cold and drove to Neillsville Monday to spend the day.

Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Terrell were supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Larson in Augusta Sunday. 

Mr. and Mrs. William Dignin and family of Merrillan spent Sunday evening with his mother, Mrs. Laura Dignin.

Mrs. Harold Hart and Mrs. Angus Flood were in Eau Claire Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. Perle Pickett spend Sunday with Mrs. Hazel Dunn and family in Black River Falls.

Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Terrell, Mrs. Willard Stanley and Mrs. Lena Harris called at the Wright and Ness homes in Eau Claire Saturday.
