The 4th of July passed over in regular style, rain in the early morning, beautiful weather during the day and rain at night.
The picnic in the Lindow grove was very much a success in every way, also financially. The programs in the morning and afternoon were very good. A goodly number of people attended and all were well pleased. The Chili people were there in full.
The dance in the M.W.A. Hall was fairly well attended, just enough to have a good time, but not too crowded.
Mrs. O.F. Walters came over Thursday and took her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. C.G. Maack, over to the farm, where Mrs. Maack will enjoy outdoor air and have a better chance to get over her sickness.
Quite a number from here went to Marshfield the Fourth to take in the time there. A good many were pleased, still there are some that never will be pleased.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Waterman received a message the evening of the fourth that a boy of their son Ray died, and they expect to have him buried here. They must have changed their mind, because they notified their parents here the next day that they were not going to come here.
Mr. and Mrs. Clark Waterman returned from their wedding trip Sunday and commenced housekeeping on Monday. Three of Mrs. Waterman’s sisters came over Monday and helped fix up the rooms and returned the same evening per horse and buggy.
The annual school meeting was held Monday evening. Mr. J. Fraser was re-elected clerk and other business of usual order was transacted.
Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Bulgrin and daughter Lulu came over Sunday afternoon and called on Mr. and Mrs. Albert Degener, gave them and Miss Vivian a ride and stayed until it was time to go home.
Mr. Elchlepp moved his furniture to Phillips Wednesday, where he has bought a house and intends to live.
There are quite a few good potatoes left at the warehouse to be sold cheap.
